The Pabonka Hermitage is also known as Pawanka. This monastery was founded in the 7th centruy and is that largest and most important of the Sera hermitages. The sites is over 1300 years old and dates back to the creator of the Tibetan Empire, Songstan Gampo. This monasetry was partially destroyed in 841, but it was supposedly 9 stories tall. It was rebuilt in the 11th century and home to 200 something monks at that time.
The most notable aspect of this temple is the many shrines it has and the beautiful hallways that is blue and gold.
